Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads…”

  • Fresh ADR

While the iconic tone of Marty McFly’s opening lines is impossible to replicate, the fresh and revitalized ADR makes the scene feel almost new. With a perfect visual time sync with the original lines, the transition between old and new dialogue sounds relatively seamless.

  • Recorded SFX

Thankfully, I was able to utilize a fabulous foley and sound effects studio to record and edit my own SFX. With the numerous funky gadgets and doo-dads in the famous scene, I ended up using all sorts of machinery, fabrics, and plastic trinkets to recreate the reality of the sound environment.

  • Library Elements

While I take pride in the recording and editing of my own sound effects, I also love showcasing my extensive editing skills with sound libraries. Some of the objects in this scene, like the huge monitor Marty turns on, are comprised of several different layers of automated effects which establishes sonic surrealism.
